For my first two half marathons, I loosely followed the plan. I loved the speed work, but when it came to the long runs, I didnt trust it and I created my own plan for my long run days. BUT I just finished my 3rd half and followed the plan religiously. It worked! I shaved 4 minutes off my previous time, no stress or injuries and was fully prepared for race day. I did not meet the intended goal exactly, but came extremely close. Those hills killed me...
