Running plan by Gipis coach. Run 5K, 10K, half marathon & marathon training program + RunKeeper app good for
Best in class. Very professional training apps & easy to use.
Only glitch: set it up on miles and it keeps switching to kms.
After trying several apps for the past year, I concluded Gipis is the best. 1. The GPS tracker is the most accurate (closest to official times at events). Some had me running almost a min/km faster. 2. I’m no coach, but the training program makes a lot of sense, and it works! just resist the urge to go faster during slower runs. 3. It runs great on my Iphone 4S, because it doesn’t try to add a bunch of (mostly unneeded) features like other apps 4. If you really have to see your run on a map, the website has that and other diagnostics.
I suggest the developers refrain from adding childish features (like funny badges, social media links etc.) and stick to basics and make it perfectly functional on a broad range of platforms. I would love to be able to pair this app with an HR monitor.
This app is great for the plan that it provides. With a nice build up and then ample speed work in the main phase allows you to tap into some places you may have not gone before. The way it slowly increases pace, has a nice ramp up to avoid injury and lays out the steelwork second for second was huge for me. I ran a 2:59:35 marathon in Eugene and came in 64th out of around 2,500. 13th in my age group. I will continue using Gipis to achieve my goal of running a 2:45 marathon in 2017
This is my first ever review of an app. I have to give credit to the creators/developers of this app. I just completed my second half marathon right on target with my training plan - on to my first full marathon!
Please keep developing this app but dont lose the user-friendly features and simple plan layout. I see other users have suggested options like setting up a separate run that isnt part of the plan, that would be great.
I need to start linking this to RunKeeper, but I actually stopped using RunKeeper due to too many bells and whistles - Ads, Competitions, Notifications, etc.
Any future plans to link with FitBit?
This app changes my way to run. Easy to use and very handily.
Ive tried several running companion programs. Gipis is, by far, the best one.
With gps monitoring and historical data, he can easily prepare you for your next challenge, 5k to marathon.
Some bad moments
Had an account but cant log on or recover the password. Tried with a different email, cant even sign up.
The app seemed like a good idea, but when I tried it out it was horrible. The pace is very slow, and it requires that you always allow it to use your location even when the app is not being used. It tried to measure my pace as I was running to set a good pace, it the numbers were literally all over the place and the app kept saying faster slower faster slower even though my pace had not changed. I did not like this app at all.
Dropping down to 2 stars because GPS didnt work on my last run. Huge problem for a running app. Hope its fixed soon, but I see the last update was done 2 years ago so .... is there no longer support for this app?
Love the training plans! From the setup screens it let me tell it my latest 5k time, what my goal was (get faster!) and how intense I wanted to train (easy, mod, hard). I tried interval training plan by Endomondo, and it was not tailored to my abilities and I always failed to complete. Very discouraging. With Gipis the workouts are tough but do-able, and I chose the hard plan. Im 5 weeks in and doing great. I wish they would add support for heart rate monitors and allow you to customize the screen, or at least put a countdown of total time or distance, not just current interval.
Great idea and a good design. Doesnt support the iPhone 6 Plus resolution yet. Sometimes crashes (goes to Gipis home screen) when I try to mark a workout complete and always crashes when I try to upload it. So currently the app is pretty useless when it comes to tracking, but generating a running plan is nice.
I deleted this app almost immediately. As I was plugging in my basic info and wanted to begin training for an upcoming marathon it refused to let me use the marathon plan because of my 3:55 marathon completion time. Suggesting that I reduce my running to a 1/2 marathon or less was just insulting.
A few things that would be helpful- calendar reminders to take your measurements, schedule next workout, etc.
